Dr. Waldeck Charles, M.D.
Dr. Waldeck Charles is the Medical Director and one of the founding partners at Neuro Focus Center. He is a trained Child & Adolescent, Adult psychiatrist. He was trained at Kings County/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Phoenix in 2005 and has worked as a Staff Psychiatrist in different locations in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area with groups like Value Options, Magellan, Partners in Recovery, Lifewell, Correctional Health Services, Promises of Scottsdale, etc. He is now mostly concentrated on expanding the services of the Neuro Focus Center clinic. His dream is to make the Neuro Focus Center an advanced, state of the art behavioral health clinic, with an emphasis in healing through pharmacotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Neurofeedback therapy. Dr. Charles is passionate about behavioral health care and providing dynamic treatment options to his patients through evidence-based modalities that are on the cutting edge of modern neuroscience.
Dr. Cerola Charles, M.D.
Dr. Cerola Charles is the TMS director at Neuro Focus Center. She is an Alumnus of Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and began her psychiatric training at the University of Colorado. During her training, she acquired experience in Addiction Medicine through the Department of Psychiatry working as a physician and faculty staff for the University’s Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) clinics. In this role, she diagnosed and treated a diverse population of patients who were confronted with debilitating, chronic substance use disorders in the metropolitan Denver area. In June 2019, she joined her father, Dr. Waldeck Charles at the Neuro Focus Center and accepted to take charge of the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services. She is a member of the Clinical TMS Society, a professional association dedicated to optimizing clinical practice, awareness and accessibility of TMS therapy. Dr. Cerola is proud to be of service and care for others as they pursue their journey to wellness.
Susan Moffitt, MC, LAC
Susan Moffitt has worked in the behavioral health field for more than 23 years. Her clinical philosophy blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) with a trauma-focused approach. Susan has additional certificates in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT). This in-depth knowledge and experience has given Susan the ability to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families with a variety of challenging issues, using an effective and empowering approach in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Maryam Goudarzi, MFT, Neurotherapist
Maryam Goudarzi has over six years of clinical experience in the mental health field. Her areas of focus include: Attention deficits (ADD/ADHD), PTSD, depression, issues of loss and grief, stress, anxiety, serious mental health disorders, substance abuse/ dependence and relationship issues. She treats children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple and family therapy. In addition, she has over two years of neuroscience experience, as she is trained and specializes in Neurofeedback with variety of therapeutic approaches. She has experience as a counselor, therapist, and social worker in a variety of settings, including drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, day treatment facilities, hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics and private practice
