Dr. Waldeck Charles, M.D.
Dr. Waldeck Charles is the Medical Director and one of the founding partners at Neuro Focus Center. He is a trained Child & Adolescent, Adult psychiatrist. He was trained at Kings County/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Phoenix in 2005 and has worked as a Staff Psychiatrist in different locations in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area with groups like Value Options, Magellan, Partners in Recovery, Lifewell, Correctional Health Services, Promises of Scottsdale, etc. He is now mostly concentrated on expanding the services of the Neuro Focus Center clinic. His dream is to make the Neuro Focus Center an advanced, state of the art behavioral health clinic, with an emphasis in healing through pharmacotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Neurofeedback therapy. Dr. Charles is passionate about behavioral health care and providing dynamic treatment options to his patients through evidence-based modalities that are on the cutting edge of modern neuroscience.
Dr. Cerola Charles, M.D.
Dr. Cerola Charles is the TMS director at Neuro Focus Center. She is an Alumnus of Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and began her psychiatric training at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. In the summer of 2016, she accepted a faculty position with the Department of Psychiatry as a physician for the University’s Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) clinics. In this role, she evaluated, diagnosed and treated a diverse population of patients who were confronted with debilitating, chronic substance use disorders in the metropolitan Denver area. In June 2019, she joined her father, Dr. Waldeck Charles to expand the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services at Neuro Focus Center. She is a member of the Clinical TMS Society, a professional association dedicated to optimizing clinical practice, awareness and accessibility of TMS therapy. Dr. Cerola is proud to be of service and care for others as they pursue their journey to wellness.
Aldrin Charles, PA-C
Aldrin Charles is a Physician Assistant at the Neuro Focus Center. He enjoys using his skills to help others. He has worked in healthcare as a clinician for over 30 years, and has had the privilege to work at fine Institutions like the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Edinburg Children Hospital, and Mission Regional Medical Center to name a few. He is a powerful force in the workplace and uses a positive attitude and beautiful smile to motivate others. He finds daily inspiration first from God and from his lovely family. During his leisure time, he enjoys riding his bike, reading and watching the news to keep up with what is going on around the globe.
Susan Moffitt, MC, LAC
Susan Moffitt has worked in the behavioral health field for more than 23 years. Her clinical philosophy blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) with a trauma-focused approach. Susan has additional certificates in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT). This in-depth knowledge and experience has given Susan the ability to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families with a variety of challenging issues, using an effective and empowering approach in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Maryam Goudarzi, LMFT, Neurotherapist
Maryam Goudarzi has over ten years of clinical experience in the mental health field. Her areas of focus include: Anxiety, depression, stress, Attention deficits (ADD/ADHD), PTSD, issues of loss and grief, serious mental health disorders, substance abuse/ dependence and relationship and family issues. She treats children, adolescents and adults in individual, couple and family therapy. In addition, she has over five years of neuroscience experience, as she is trained and specializes in Neurofeedback with variety of therapeutic approaches. She has experience as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings, including day treatment facilities, hospitals, drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, outpatient mental health clinics and private practice.
Kathleen Barnes, LCSW
Kathleen Barnes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Neuro Focus Center. She has experience working with diverse populations using many counseling techniques including DBT, CBT, CPT, Trauma therapy, Motivational therapy and brief intervention Solution-based focused therapy. Her experience is with individuals that struggle from stress and anxiety from everyday life, mild to severe mental health symptoms and trauma-related disorders such as PTSD. Katheleen believes in providing hope and support for change by empowering patients using strength based and recovery based models. Her expertise is teaching skills that you can use for better communication, obtaining wants and needs as well as meeting your full potential. She believes that life can throw us challenges that may require us to seek therapeutic help for better clarity and support so we can recover to a life where we feel fulfilled and back in control of our lives. She is passionate about helping individuals in those difficult times to find the answers and gain their strength back.
Anthony M. Thompson, MAC, LASAC, LPC
Anthony earned a Master of Arts in Counseling in 2014 from Ottawa University. He is also a licensed associate substance abuse counselor (LASAC) and licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the State of Arizona. Since 2011, he has lived in the Valley with his wife. He has two adult children and one grand dog. As a mental health and substance abuse counselor, he has offered both individual and group therapy since 2014 maintaining active licensing since 2015. Anthony is pleased to bring his passion for helping others to the Neuro Focus Center.
